Mercedes-Benz has officially started production of its all-new CLA four-door coupe at the company's production facility in Kecskemet, Hungary. The CLA made its global debut earlier this year at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The CLA is the second product to be built at Mercedes' new Kecskemet plant, following the B-Class which began production there last year. Mercedes is banking on its new crop of small cars, including the CLA, to help it regain the title of best-selling luxury brand by 2020.

"It has hardly been 10 months since we opened this factory and back then we said once the first CLA rolls off the assembly line, paprika would no longer be Hungary's coolest export product," Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche said, according to Reuters.
He added: "The CLA can help Mercedes Benz become the number one player in the premium segment by 2020 at the latest with a strong factory in Kecskemet.”
The CLA, which mimics the styling of the larger CLS, will go on sale in Europe in April, followed by a September roll-out date for the United States. Mercedes will announce U.S. pricing for the CLA during the Super Bowl, at which time the automaker could also reveal a hotter AMG version of the car.
